Unzip the two files, "DetectSys.exe and GV_Detect.ini", into your GV system folder.
Run DetectSys.exe and the following message will indicate whether you can upgrade or not.

A basic rule of thumb is, if you require a USB dongle to run V7 to V7.05, then you cannot upgrade to V8.0 or above without replacing your GeoVision card.

Check your card version first. You may start your download if your card version is listed below:

If your card version is not listed, a USB dongle is required to run above V6.05. USB dongle can only be supplied with verification of GeoVision Serial Number and Barcode (found on the capture card, CD bag, manual, and box that come with the package), Model Number, and Number of Ports card has. Upgrade handling fee may be applied. It may take up to 4 weeks for your supplier to provide the dongle.
(2) The following download files are for upgrading from V6.0.0.0 and up to V7.0.5.0 only. (3) DirectX 9.0 C or later must already be installed. (4) USB dongle is required to upgrade to version 7.0.
