GV Software Features

Authentication Server
Compared with previous versions where you may need to setup passwords on each individual PC, you may now set up passwords for several DVRs from a single PC, using Authentication Server.  The feature is extremely useful when you are managing several DVRs in a facility.

Enhanced network security by RSA Encryption
You may apply RSA encryption to protect video data while sent over internet. The encryption could be applied in WebCam
, VSM, RPB, and Center V2.

Remote Monitoring Via Symbian and Microsoft Smartphone
You may now monitor surveillance sites through your Symbian and Microsoft Smartphone.  The new version allows you to view live in JPEG on these two mobiles.

More Video Resolutions to Support Audio Recording
The following resolutions now support audio recording and playback:  640x480 de-interlace (new), 720x480 de-interlace (new), 720x240 (new), 640x240, and 320x240.  Same supports also to PAL standard: 720x576 de-interlace (new), and 720x288 (new).

Higher Video Resolutions for Better Image Quality
More video resolutions are supported:  720x480, 720x480 de-interlace in NTSC, 720x240; 720x576, 720x576 de-interlace, and 720x288 in PAL. The resolutions also apply to applications such as Object Monitor, Object Index, and Object Counter.

Easy Backup to DVD
It?s now possible to export video files to DVD and playback at your home DVD player!  Our advanced backup program, designed to work with Windows XP, and Server 2003 burner software, allows you to backup video files directly to CD media.

Export AVI Footage with Multiple Cameras Images
Compared to previous version where you could only export video files from one camera at a time, version 7.0 allows you to export video files from multiple cameras at once.  You may now play back multiple cameras at once in Media Player (previously you could only play back one camera view at a time).  

Schedule to Connect to Center V2
You may now auto connect to Center V2 by schedule.  

Support more PTZ Domes
More PTZ domes are supported: SAE DR-E588, and Kenko DMP23H1.  

Screen Resolution 1280x1024
The version now supports 1280x1024 resolutions at main system, RPB, and Center V2.

Save Video as EXE Files
Save video clips in EXE format so that user could auto-play the video file at a third-party player without the need to download the codec.

Vital Sign Monitor Displays Storage Information
In Vital Sign Monitor you may read about storage information (e.g. availability of hard disk space) on each DVR.

Unattended Object Detection and Missing Object Detection
You may set the system so that when an object is left unattended for a set period of time at the surveillance scene, the system immediately sends alerts to proper authorities for prompt action. Another function offered by this feature is Missing Objection Detection - when an object is missing from the surveillance scene for a set period of time, the system also sends out alerts. 

Object Tracking and Zooming by PTZ Dome
The PTZ dome auto tracks and zoom-in on an object until it leaves the surveillance scene. 
(Note: This feature requires one stationary camera and one PTZ dome equipped with auto tracking feature).

Backlight Compensation
You may now apply backlight compensation in View Log, in order to compensate dark images result from backlight.   

Image Size Indicator
Size of image may be effected due to different settings for video attribute (brightness, contrast, etc.) 

E-Map
E-map displays the monitoring area on an electronic map, where operator can easily locate cameras, sensors and alarms. The e-map may be set to pop-up with flashing icon, indicating a camera or an I/O device is being triggered.

Video Fully Synchronize with Audio
Enhanced video and audio in real-time synchronization quality, live and in View Log.  No delays as it may happen in certain models of previous version.      

Windows Lockup
Secure your PC while away from workstation. You may lock up the Windows Desktop by launching a customized GV-Desktop, under which operators are limited to run only GV-systems and the selected programs.  When apply this feature, keyboard loses its control to Windows.  For example, functions such as Ctrl+Alt+Del is now disabled.    

Enlarged PTZ/IO Control Panel to support Touch-Screen Monitors
With bigger buttons you may now operate PTZ domes or I/O devices on a touch-screen. 
   
Starts the System Hidden
When select to start the system hidden, the system will reside at system tray when first start the system.  It could be called out only if click the icon resides at system tray.     

Object Index
You may quickly find a desired video file at a glance!  Compare to previous version where you may try your luck guessing on a date to spot a specific event, you may now glance one frame of each video file at once, and quick spot the event you want.   

 
Activate and deactivate Various Alerts All At Once
Compare to previous version where you may individually enable or disable any of the alerts (hotline, e-mail, I/O module, or alarm notifications) once triggered, you may now enable or disable them in a single operation.    
    
Retrieve Only I/O-Triggered Events
Prevent any I/O-triggered video files being recycled. Due to their low occurrence, I/O-triggered events may be worthwhile to keep. When applying the feature, all the I/O-triggered events, unless removed manually, will be free from the typical recycle process.

Flag Important Video Events in the View Log
You may flag important video events to prevent them from being recycled. When the system must recycle events for more storage space, those that are flagged will be skipped from the process.

Hot Key Display Window from System Configuration Folder
The Hot Key display window provides a quick reference of most often used operations. The window may be recalled for Main System, View Log, and PTZ Control Panel from the system configuration.

Displays Total Time, Frames and Sizes of a Video
Compare to previous version where you could only tell the start time of an event in the ViewLog event list window, you may now choose to display total number of frames in a video file, or size of the video file. This helps you better determine storage space required to back up the selected events.

Optional Screen Mode Options
Compare to previous version where a motion-triggered popup screen takes up the entire monitoring view, the new mode adds new layouts so that in the 8, 12, and 16 screen division mode, the pop-up only pops at the center of the view screen while all other camera views are still viewable.

Auto PTZ Control Panel Switch
Compare to previous versions where you have to manually select the PTZ Control Panel to match your PTZ dome models during operation, the system now recognizes the model and automatically calls out the corresponding panel as you switch to another PTZ dome.

Export only Specified Period within a Video Footage
In the new version of View Log, you can export a specified timeframe within a video stream by dragging the time lines to assign the starting and ending time.  

SMS Alerts
In addition to e-mail and pager alerts, you may now send Short Message Service (SMS) through mobile when any of the following conditions occurs: video lost, I/O Module lost, I/O triggered and connection lost, abnormal system operation, intruder, missing object, unattended object, POS loss prevention, and disk full.  The function is available in the main system, Center V2, and Vital Sign Monitor.

IR Remote Control
Use IR Remote Control to operate frequently used operations, such as recording, playback, in Main system and View Log.

Vital Sign Monitor (VSM)
Vital Sign Monitor (VSM) applies to monitoring stations where multiple GV-systems are in use. VSM receives alerts in text messages, alarms, and/or output devices when any of the following alert condition occurs in a GV-system: video lost, I/O Module lost, I/O triggered and connection lost, abnormal system operation, intruder, missing object, unattended object, POS loss prevention, and disk full.  Suitable to manage a large-scale security environment.  This application is to be purchased additionally (not included in standard package).  Ask your sale for more information.    

Software-based GV-Data Capture
The new application is released to support graphic mode POS, in addition to the text mode that is already available in the current GV-Data Capture box.  To be purchased additionally.     

Hide POS Transaction Data from the View Screen
You may choose to hide or show the POS transaction data on the view screen.

POS Field Filter
In Live Log Brower, you may create a field titled with the keyword. Transactions, further filtered by conditions defined, will be displayed under the newly created field. 

Adding Cash Drawer Input Setting
You may link an input module to the cash drawer so that whenever the cash drawer is opened, a signal will be sent to the main system and the transaction will be log to the System Log for later retrieval.

PTZ Dome to Preset Position on Alarm Activation

The PTZ Dome turns to a preset position for the region of interest to record on alarm activation. For example, if a card reader at the door is activated, The PTZ dome will turn and focus to the doorway for the important scene to be recorded.

Screen Pop-up on Motion or Alarm Activation

View screen pops up into foreground when motion is detected or alarm is triggered. This immediately brings the event into the operator's attention.

Main Screen View with Live Audio

With previous versions, the audio could only be listened to during playback. Now it can be listened to live while monitoring with the correct hardware and software installed.

Object Counting

This application counts the number of objects (for example, people, vehicles) passing through a predefined area. The counter can be set by object size, direction of movement or detection area. The system then counts the number of objects passing the predefined areas. Counted results are logged in the system log database for future reference.

Day-Night Recording Mode

This option allows different recording modes for different time periods of the day. Each day can be divided into 4 time periods, each represented by one span. Each span can be configured to record by round the clock or motion detect.

Newly Designed ViewLog

The newly designed ViewLog software allows better playback performance and has more advanced search functions. New features in ViewLog include: 480 FPS playback (16 channels in real-time), DirectSound audio playback, reverse playback, and faster data loading time.

Object Search

This search allows you to specify a zone on an image and perform a search based on any motion occurred within that zone. A practical application would be finding when a vehicle was stolen in a parking lot. First define the area (in this case, the vehicle in the park space), and apply Object Search for the system to find when the vehicle was moved.

Thumbnail Search

This search allows you to locate an event in footage by displaying frame by frame thumbnails of the entire clip.

Index Search

This search allows you to perform a search based on criteria, including motion detection and I/O alarms, of which the activities being registered to the System Log database. Double click on any of the entries in the log and the desired event will be played back.

System Log

The System Log records major operational changes, sorted into five categories in a database. You can browse all entries in the Live Log Browser and click on the entry to play back the associated video file, if available.

Twin DVR

When a surveillance system serves a large number of remote clients over the internet, there may be times where the system is threatened by network overloads. Twin DVR helps to balance server load by distributing service requests to another server. Twin DVR is a web server application that runs on another computer and helps to take the web user requests that may otherwise take up the GeoVision system server resources for video monitoring and recording frame rate.

Dynamic DNS Support

Dynamic DNS helps to achieve the following tasks:

  • Provides an easy to remember domain for fast location of your GeoVision system.

  • Constantly updates the dynamic IP address of your GeoVision system to the DNS Server.

The Dynamic DNS service is available for free to all GeoVision users. Domain name registration is done in the new DDNS application available in all V6.0 software.

Remote Access Log Database over WebCam

Allows user to review general system information and logs, including motion, alarm, video loss, and user login / logout history. A graphical bar chart is also available allowing user to compare user login traffic and motion detection frequency.

Geo MPEG4

A newly developed video codec by GeoVision that offers better image quality, higher frame rate, and smaller recording size. GeoMPEG4 allows GV-1000 and GV-900 to achieve better recording performance than other codec's. See below for the test results comparing GeoMPEG4, M-JPEG, and the Wavelet codec.

Note: Both tests were done using a GV-1000 recording at 16 channels. The recording size was calculated by using a GV-1000 recording at 480 FPS (30 FPS x 16 Channels) for 15 minutes.

Central Surveillance with Center V2

With Center V2, the Central Monitoring Station (CMS) can be deployed immediately because it brings multiple GeoVision systems together into an integrated interface, allowing the operator to manage several systems from one point of control. The fundamental function of Center V2 is to attach video evidence with any alerts being sent to the Center V2, which helps the remote-end operator to determine the nature of the alarm.

Smart Recording Technology (SRT)

SRT is developed up by GeoVision Inc. for users want to allocate recording speed (FPS) into main recording channels. SRT allows GV-Series System to automatically allocate recording frame rates to locations as needed. There are three options (Auto, High, Low) for SRT in [System Configure] / [Rec Control]. When setup in a certain way, SRT can make a total 25 FPS system (GV-600 model) like a total 100 FPS system (GV-800 model).

Digital Watermark

Digital watermark is added to images in a way that can be seen by a computer but is imperceptible to the human eye. Watermark is used to communicate copyright information about an image in order to reduce copyright infringement.

Digital watermark provides users of images three main benefits:
